Arizona Cardinals’ president Michael Bidwill talks with coaching intern Jen Welter prior to the game against the Kansas City Chiefs in a pre-season NFL clash at University of Phoenix Stadium.

NEW YORK: Chicago Bears wide receiver Kevin White, the seventh overall pick in the 2015 NFL Draft, needs surgery on a stress fracture in his left shin.
General manager Ryan Pace said yesterday that White will start the season on the physically unable to perform list and could miss the entire season.
By remaining on the PUP list, White will be sidelined for at least the first six games of the regular season.
White suffered the injury during the Bears’ off-season programme and missed training camp practices as well as the Bears’ preseason opener.
Pace said White suffered a setback in his recovery this week, prompting the need for surgery.
In other team news, the Bears signed wide receiver Jeremy Kelley to a one-year contract and waived linebacker DeDe Lattimore.
* * * The Washington Redskins lost another tight end for the season as Logan Paulsen will have surgery today to repair a turf toe condition, head coach Jay Gruden announced.
The news comes two days after starting tight end Niles Paul broke his ankle in Thursday night’s pre-season opener against the Cleveland Browns.
Gruden also confirmed that running back Silas Redd is out for the season with a torn ACL and MCL in his right knee.
* * * The lawyers for Tom Brady claim there is a “smear campaign” by the NFL against the New England Patriots star quarterback in the fight over the Deflategate scandal.
Brady’s attorneys on Friday reiterated their claims of unfair treatment by NFL commissioner Roger Goodell as they seek to overturn Brady’s four-game suspension for his alleged involvement in the deflation of game balls during the AFC Championship game against the Indianapolis Colts in January.
Jeffrey Kessler, the lead attorney for Brady and the NFL Players Association, referred to Goodell’s written ruling against Brady as a “propaganda piece” in documents filed Friday in US District Court, according to ESPN.com.
