DOHA: As part of its Corporate Social Responsibility (CSR) activities, Qatar Fuel Additives Company Limited (QAFAC) has signed an agreement to sponsor Qatar International Sailing 2014, which will take place from February 18 to 22.
Commenting on the significance of the event, Nasser Jeham Al Kuwari, General Manager of QAFAC, said, “It is our privilege to be a part of this competition. Supporting local sports activities is one of the most important components of our CSR programme, Contributing to Qatar National Vision 2030, which emphasises sports activities in our lives. We constantly aim to sponsor a wide range of tournaments to help increase awareness about maintaining a healthy lifestyle.
Qatar International Sailing 2014, which is very popular, is the 22nd edition of the oldest sailing tournament in the Gulf region.
This year’s event will have 204 participants from more than 20 countries, including Qatar, Italy, Portugal, Switzerland, Turkey, Russia, the Gulf states and
Egypt.
The opening ceremony will be held tomorrow at Doha Sailing Club. There will be 11 sessions of the race, which will be officiated by a number of international racing managers and referees led by Carlo Tosi Joalaano, chairman of the organising committee of the races, and Luigi Bertini, head of the referees.
A boat will be available at 9am for fans who wish to encourage the contestants.
