Speaker of Shura Council H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim
Speaker of the Shura Council H E Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim affirmed that the legislative elections that the country witnessed in October 2021 culminated the Qatari renaissance march led by Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
In an exclusive statement to Qatar News Agency (QNA) on the occasion of the National Day, His Excellency extended his highest congratulations to Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani, Father Amir H H Sheikh Hamad bin Khalifa Al Thani, Deputy Amir H H Sheikh Abdullah bin Hamad Al Thani, the government, the Qatari people and the residents of Qatar, adding that the slogan for this year’s National Day, “Ancestral Meadows: A Matter of Trust”, is a reflection of the close relationship between the Qatari people and their environment since ancient times.
Choosing this year’s slogan affirms that the State of Qatar, despite moving forward, has not neglected its legacy, history and interest in the environment. This slogan was derived from the verses of the founder, which reflects the connection of Qataris to their land and their adherence to their past and heritage, while looking forward to the future, Speaker of the Shura Council pointed out.
He noted that the National Day celebrations are an occasion to recall the sacrifices of the fathers and to commemorate the founding of the State of Qatar at the hands of the founder Sheikh Jassim bin Mohammed bin Thani, pointing out that the revival of this occasion dear to everyone’s hearts is an embodiment of the values of loyalty to this country, the people’s support for its leadership and to celebrate the record of successive achievements that are realized at all levels.
Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim hailed the important contents of the speech of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani at the opening of the first ordinary session of the first legislative term corresponding to the Shura Council’s 50th annual session, affirming that this comprehensive speech is a beacon illuminating the way and a guide, as it drew a road map for the march of the Qatari Renaissance, reviewing the most important stations in the track record of achievements, which culminated in the completion of the institutions stipulated in the constitution with the establishment of the first elected Shura Council in the history of the country.
He affirmed that the Council, in accordance with the sound directives of H H the Amir, has in mind the interest of the country and the citizens, and that it will be the best representative of the people, and will perform its legislative role entrusted to it according to the constitution to achieve that noble goal.
The Speaker of the Shura Council concluded his statement by reviewing the bright march of the Council, indicating that the current stage is an important stage in the history of the Council, and it is the fruit of the building laid down by the founding fathers, pointed out in this context to the roles entrusted to the Council in accordance with the powers defined by the permanent constitution of the State of Qatar, as it is the legislative authority of the country which highlights the aspirations of citizens to build a bright future for the State of Qatar under the leadership of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani.
