Qatar criminal court has jailed a man, who was found guilty of committing a series of thefts, for five years and he will be deported after completing the sentence.

He was found guilty of using stolen bank ATM cards and withdrawing money from many unsuspecting people.

His modus operandi was to fool people who are not familiar with operating ATM machines by offering help to withdraw money from their account.

While doing so, he switches the debit card with a fake card and when the ATM rejects the fake card he asks the victim to contact bank or their company saying there is some problem with the card. In the process he comes to know the password for the real card and withdraws money with this after the victim leaves.

The Public Prosecution charged the accused for fraudulently withdrawing money using stolen card.

According to one of the cases, the victim said that he gave his debit card to a person present near the ATM as he didn’t knew how to operate the machine to withdraw money. The accused told him that he had money in his bank account, but his card is working and suggested that he go to his employer and report the inactive card.

The victim went to his company next day and reported the matter to his supervisors but only to be told that the card doesn’t belong to him and it is a fake card.

All the victims complained to the police that someone has withdrawn money from their bank accounts and provided the authorities with his descriptions.

The investigators were quick to move in and nab the culprit and bring him to justice.
