Doha: Qatar is affirming its stance as a wedding destination and can deliver a fairytale wedding for couple who will tie the knot, said a top official.

The world’s biggest B2B platform for destination weddings, 9th Destination Wedding Planners (DWP) Congress has formally opened in Doha yesterday and will run until today, March 16, carrying the theme “Qatar – A tale of love and luxury.”

Qatar Airways Group Chief Executive and Chairman of Qatar Tourism, H E Akbar Al Baker in his speech stressed on how Qatar firmly stands its position as a wedding destination.

Aside from earning the number one rank as the Safest Country in the World on the Numbeo Crime Index, for two consecutive years in 2021 and 2022, “Qatar is a country that delivers in a grand scale,” said Al Baker as he noted the country’s successful hosting of the FIFA World Cup tagged as the Best World Cup ever. “If we can deliver the best World Cup, I’m certain we can deliver your fairytale wedding,” he said.

Moreover, the Group Chief Executive highlighted that the country has the finest infrastructures for a dream wedding. “The past few years have seen an incredible expansion on hospitality and leisure landscape, leaving prospective brides and grooms spoiled for choice on where to host their special day…With talented designers, creative partners, culinary experts, unique architectural venues, and huge areas of leisure activities, Qatar offers the best facility for your dream wedding.”

Al Baker also said that Qatar has a “vibrant multicultural landscape that caters to a diverse range of wedding traditions – be it contemporary, classical and everything in between.”

“Qatar’s offering as a wedding destination is as versatile as it is captivating.”

Meanwhile. QnA International Director Sidh NC stressed that this host country for DWP Congress is comparable to a gem. “Qatar is a jewel which stands out for luxury, opulence and service standards.” He moreover explained that the event is aimed to educate and highlight the importance of the niche of luxury wedding business as a “key economic contributor towards the destination.”

He said that the destination weddings continue to be the fastest growing segment with $300bn worth of global wedding market. In a session “Say “I Do” to Qatar: The perfect blend of traditional culture with modern opulence,” Al Baker said that Qatar is a destination for wedding and tourists because of the people’s warm hospitality. “We are known in the Gulf to be the most hospitable and accommodating population. Qatar has been the world’s best kept secret, we have everything that you need.”

He also assured that couples who’ll get married in Doha will have an unforgettable experience. “I promise you one thing, whoever gets married in Doha, ties the knot in Doha, you’ll have an experience that will be unprecedented, we have everything here – best hotels, best museums, best beaches, best venues, everything that you need to make your wedding the best wedding. Most importantly, you have the warm acceptance of people of Qatar.”

Over 500 wedding planners and suppliers from more than 70 countries gathered for the 9th DWP where participants can grow their international business and network, attend groundbreaking conference and sessions to name a few.
