Amir: Summit outcome to enhance cooperation, meet aspirations

Riyadh: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani participated along with his brothers Their Majesties and Highnesses leaders of the GCC countries and heads of delegations in the opening session of the 42nd session of the Supreme Council of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC), which was held yesterday at Diriyah Palace in Riyadh, Saudi Arabia.

Earlier H H the Amir and the accompanying delegation were welcomed upon arrival at King Khalid International Airport by Crown Prince, Deputy Prime Minister and Minister of Defence of the Kingdom of Saudi Arabia H R H Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud. 

H H the Amir and the accompanying delegation were also welcomed by Acting Governor of Riyadh Region H R H Prince Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud; GCC Secretary General H E Dr. Nayef bin Falah Al Hajraf; and a number of senior officials.

Ambassador of Qatar to Saudi Arabia H E Bandar bin Mohammed Al Attiyah, and Ambassador of Saudi Arabia to Qatar H H Prince Mansour bin Khalid bin Abdullah Al Farhan Al Saud were also present on the occasion. H H the Amir also participated in the closed session of the 42nd session of the GCC Supreme Council.

Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani also participated in the closing session of the 42nd session of the GCC Supreme Council. 

The three sessions were also attended by a number of Their Excellencies members of the official delegation accompanying H H the Amir, a number of Their Royal Highnesses princes, and Their Excellencies members of the accompanying official delegations. 

They were also attended by the GCC Secretary-General. 

H H the Amir also attended a dinner banquet hosted by his brother H R H the Saudi Crown Prince in honour of GCC leaders and heads of the delegations participating in the summit. 

Later upon his departure from Riyadh, H H the Amir sent a message to his brother Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques, King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud of Saudi Arabia, and his brother H R H Crown Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud in which the Amir expressed his appreciation for the hospitality accorded to him and the accompanying delegation during the visit.  

H H the Amir expressed his satisfaction with the important outcomes of the summit, which will help enhance the council’s work and realise the aspirations of its peoples, wishing them good health and wellness and the brotherly Saudi people further progress under their wise leadership. H H the Amir returned from Riyadh to Doha later yesterday.
