Doha: The Traffic Department, stating today, has issued new procedures for registration of truck trailers, quad bikes and caravans.
The general directorate of traffic announced its decision to implement the requirements of the traffic directorate for registration and licensing procedures of all kinds of motorcycles, carts, carriers, semi-trailers and caravans with effect from October 15, 2017.
Motorcycles:
New motorcycles above 50cc will be registered licensed and a number plate will be issued. Old motorcycles, which are not registered yet, will have to undergo a technical inspection before going for registration and licensing procedures.
Motorcycles will be subjected for technical inspection for renewal of registration.
Quad bikes:
New quad bikes (desert motorcycle) above 50CC will be registered and will not be licensed (not intended for riding on roads). Motorcycle plate will be issued as well. They will have to place a long ariel at the back of the bike and at a red triangle flag need to be attached to it by fahes or any other authority who has the required specifications.
Motorcycles which are 50cc or below will not be registered and licensed.
Carts, carriers and semi-trailers
For these categories of vehicles, a new chassis number will be stamped by Fahes in coordination with licensing authority. After that it can be registered, licensed and a trailer number plate will be issued.
All traffic safety requirements should be met for registration. Red phosphoric reflective strip must be stuck to the backside and yellow reflectors fixed on the sides. The reflectors should be like square boxes of beehives and it will be fixed by Fahes or any other body who have the required specifications.
Caravans
For caravans a new chassis number will be stamped by Fahes in coordination with licensing authority.
The chassis number plate will be fixed in front and back of the caravan and all traffic safety requirements should be met as required.
