Doha, Qatar: The 17th Education Excellence Award 2024 has named 60 winners out of 246 candidates in nine categories of the award.
The winners will be honoured at the closing ceremony of the award slated to be held on March 4, 2024.The award honours outstanding Qatari students and individuals in various fields to promote a culture of creativity and excellence in the Qatari society.
The announcement was made at a press conference at the headquarters of the Ministry of Education and Higher Education yesterday.
Addressing the press conference, the CEO of the Education Excellence Award Maryam Abdullah Al Mohannadi announced the names of the winners and the medals they won in each category. Seven students won platinum medals in the Excellent Student category for primary school. Ten students received gold medals in the same category.
In the category of Excellent Student for preparatory school, six students got platinum medals. Three students won gold medals in the same category. In the category of Excellent Student of secondary school, five students received platinum medals. Six students received gold medals in this category.
In the category of Excellent University Student, 13 students received gold medals. Khalid Fahed Mohamad Ibrhaim Abdullah Husain from Qatar Science and Technology School for Boys (QSTSS) received gold medal in the category of Excellent Scientific Research.
In the category of Excellent Teacher, Gahaliya Salaman Ali Rashid (primary grade), Ali Khalid Hilal Mohamad Al Kubaisi (preparatory grade) and Saida Mohamad Abdullah Ahmad Al Khulaifi (secondary grade) received platinum medals.
Al Khansa Primary School for Girls represented by the School Director Huda Khalifa Malallah Mohamad Al Ubaidali and Qatar Science and Technology Secondary School represented by School Director Mohamad Ali Mohamad Al Emadi received gold medals.
In the category of Masters’ degree holders, Maha Hani Abdullah bin Abbas Al Khuzai from Hamad Bin Khalifa University in Science and Abullah Rashid Marsal Al Marri from Joaan Bin Jassim Academy for Defence Studies in Arts got gold medals.
Dr. Naila Ahmad Mohamad Al Abdurrahman Al Thani in Science and Dr. Tami Ahmad Ali Al Butami Al Banali in Arts both from Hamad bin Khalifa University received platinum medals in the Masters’ degree category.
The press conference was attended by the winners and members of the award committees, in addition to media professionals, journalists and parents of the winners.
Maryam Al Mohannadi said: “Winning the award is one of the indicators of the quality of the educational system in Qatar and its excellence in providing opportunities and enabling individuals to invest their potential and capabilities to achieve their ambitions, which is the core of the human development pillar of Qatar Vision 2030.”
She announced that the total number of winners for this year is 60 winners, and that the lists of winners’ names are available on the ministry’s official channels, noting that the Excellence Award has become a milestone in stimulating innovation and academic excellence and an important platform to celebrate scientific and research achievements.
Al Mohannadi expressed her appreciation for the efforts of the members of the award committees, saying: “I would like to express my sincere thanks and deep appreciation for the efforts of the members of the award committees who have worked with dedication over the past months to reach the moment of announcing the final results.”
The Education Excellence Award in Qatar represents a cornerstone in promoting creativity and innovation in the educational system, and shows the commitment of Qatar to the standards of scientific and academic excellence, deepening the concepts of excellence in areas that serve the development directions of the country.
