Doha, Qatar: In its fourth and final week, the Katara Summer Camp continues its rich programme and various activities, which began on July 23 and will continue until tomorrow, August 15. The camp runs every Sunday, Monday and Tuesday, for children aged 10 to 13 years old.

To date, around 200 participants have joined the Summer Camp.

The camp administration was keen to prepare an integrated programme with the participation of several entities like the Ministry of Interior represented by the General Directorate of Civil Defense, the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs, the Qatari Red Crescent, the Al Jazeera Media Institute, the Nomas Center and the Shooting Club.

The programme deals with several aspects, including educational and cultural aspects, development of mental and sports skills, as well as the development of religious, social and national values. This contributes to the link between educational practice on the one hand and the promotion of Qatari identity and local customs and traditions on the other hand, in addition to sports and recreational activities such as matches and mental and motor games that contribute to improving intellectual and physical skills.

The camp administration also included field visits in the programme that introduce them to Katara facilities, including those related to the heritage, which greatly contributes to strengthening the national identity, and also those related to science, which contribute to increasing their general information.

These included the Al Mahamil Museum, the Al Thuraya Planetarium and the Al Qannas Association.

Moreover, the camp organisers also did not overlook the importance of the general atmosphere among the participants in terms of the importance of discipline and cooperation, as well as establishing prayer on time in the congregation.

Abdul Majeed Barakat from Al Jazeera Media Institute, presented a workshop on public speaking skills that dealt with how to prepare well and ways to deliver the message to the audience clearly and quickly, and the children interacted with it greatly, showing their ideas and skills on this subject.

Meanwhile, the Civil Defense continued to provide awareness workshops on safety methods from fires and accidents. As for the Qatari Ardha training, which is provided by the Nomas Center, it is one of the most important activities that the participants enjoy and connects them with their heritage and the customs and traditions of the people of Qatar.

As for the sports competitions, the participants are divided into groups. The competitions take place between them in football matches, beach volleyball, and the running and throwing competitions.
