Doha, Qatar: The Academic Bridge Program (ABP), a member of Qatar Foundation (QF), hosted an open day to introduce students to its educational opportunities and academic pathways. The event welcomed over 500 high school students from public and private schools across Qatar.

The Open Day was a strategic initiative by the ABP aimed at engaging prospective students for the upcoming academic year while strengthening collaboration with school counselors. The event offered a comprehensive overview of ABP’s various departments and featured participation from higher education institutions affiliated with QF.

The event provided students and school counselors with a unique opportunity to engage directly with representatives from the ABP, enabling them to ask questions and gain in-depth insights into the curriculum, academic pathways, and student services available. Additionally, it offered students a valuable experience, allowing them to explore the ABP’s environment firsthand and discover the higher education opportunities available to them.

ABP’s Director, Dr. Saheim Khalaf Al Temimi emphasised the significance of the Open Day event, stating: “This event is a key milestone for the ABP, offering a unique platform to showcase our programs, diverse academic pathways, and student achievements to a wide audience of high school students.”

“We strive to build bridges of communication with the local community and strengthen relationships with schools, educational institutions, and our strategic partners. This event has played a key role in attracting more than 450 students from 48 schools.

Dr. Al Tamimi also emphasized the crucial role of school counselors and said, “Engaging with school counselors was a crucial part of this event, as they play a vital role in guiding and advising students on higher education opportunities. By establishing strong relationships with counselors, we ensure they have a clear and in-depth understanding of the academic pathways offered by the ABP, enabling them to provide the best possible guidance to students.”

“The collaborative efforts in organizing such events underscore the importance of partnerships between educational institutions in Qatar and their role in encouraging students to explore the diverse educational opportunities available to them,” Dr. Al Tamimi said.

Head of the Academic and Career Guidance Department at the Ministry of Education and Higher Education (MoEHE), Dr. Dhaher Ahmed Al Askar said: “Our long-standing collaboration with the ABP helps students access top university programs. As a vital bridge, it supports ambitious students in overcoming academic gaps and achieving their higher education goals.

Al Askar emphasised that the Open Day provided students with a valuable opportunity to engage directly with representatives from the ABP. This enabled them to gain a clear understanding of university admission requirements, explore educational and career opportunities aligned with market demands, and make well-informed decisions about their academic futures.

“At MoEHE, we are committed to supporting students in discovering their academic and career interests through specialized assessments starting in ninth and tenth grade. These assessments help them choose the most suitable path while aligning their choices with labor market needs,” he said.
