Doha, Qatar: The school holidays in the month of April have been cancelled for this academic year.
This has been announced by the Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Dr Mohammed Abdul Wahed Ali Al Hammadi today.
The minister tweeted that the holidays has been cancelled to compensate the number of school days lost due to the long summer break.
The minister tweeted in Arabic about the decision.
“The April holidays is canceled this year to compensate for the shortage of school days resulting from the late start of school year and the substantial changes in the academic calendar,” a loose translation of the tweet says.

Many social media users were seen replying to the minister’s tweet urging him to not to cancel the holidays as many plan to travel during this break.
