Doha: Qatari musician Fahad Al-Kubaisi has become the first Gulf singer to compete in the Grammy Awards.
His latest album, "Enta Eshq", is nominated for the "World Music Album" in the 60th Grammys Awards, which is scheduled to be held in New York City in January 2018.
Fahad Al Kubaisi collaborated with Backstage Production to launch the IAM "Introducing Arabic Music to the Western World" campaign. The campaign aimed at presenting Arabic music in its authentic format using traditional instruments to the Western world without compromising its identity.
The news was shared by the singer himself on his social media handles. A very popular artist in the Gulf he has millions of followers on Twitter and Instagram.
Al Kubaisi is a singer, record producer, fashion model and human rights activist. His voice has been described as a "tender" baritone in his Wikipedia profile. He is known for producing a sophisticated genre of Khaliji music.
He was selected as the best singer in GCC in 19th Meeting of GCC Ministers of Culture 2013 in Bahrain.
The Grammy Awards are most prestigious awards in the music industry with 84 categories including: Rap & Jazz, Best Album of the Year, Best Song of the Year, Best Pop Album, Best Rock Singer, and other categories.
