DOHA: A majority of new students admitted to Qatar University’s new semester (Fall 2015) that begins tomorrow, are Qataris.
More than 2,250 of an estimated 3,600 new admissions completed at the university for the new semester, are citizens.
This is thanks to active encouragement Qatar’s government has been providing to nationals to get higher education, say community elders.
A total of 16,000 students, both male and female, will be beginning Fall 2015 classes in eight different colleges of QU from tomorrow.
The university has also recruited 174 new teaching staff which takes the total of its academic staff to 1,248 in the different colleges.
It is interesting to note that the new 174 teaching staff members have been hired from 29 different countries from across the world. They will be teaching different undergraduate and post-graduate courses.
The university has ended orientation programmes for fresh students. All QU students, on producing university identity (ID) cards, are entitled to get text books at 50 percent discounted prices.
