The Department of Mosques at the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs has issued preventive measures for mosques and worshippers against coronavirus (Covid 19).
The department has instructed to reduce the waiting time between the call to prayer and prayer to five minutes for all prayers.
The mosques need to be closed after 15 minutes of each prayer.
In the directives, the department stressed the need to keep the mosque and surrounding clean and daily monitoring. It asked mosques to remove all the things that could contribute to the spreading of virus like the cups at the water coolers, pieces of hand soap or the trash inside the prayer hall.
The department directed the worshipers who have symptoms of cold or fever to avoid mosques during the period of illness.
It also called for more air circulation of mosques by opening ventilation outlets during and after prayer.
