Qatar Airways urges US-bound passengers to arrive early for enhanced screening

Doha: Qatar Airways has urged US bound passengers to report at the Hamad International Airport (HIA) to reach early for their flights.

Flights bound to different US aiports have enhanced security screening for personal electronic devices (PED) on flights.

Because of this Qatar Airways tweeted that “We encourage all passengers travelling to USA to arrive at HIA in sufficient extra time for the enhanced security screening at the gate.”

Among other things PEDs, which are subject to snhanced security screening include DSLR camera, radio, e-reader, walkie-talkie, laptop, tavblet, water purifier, CD-rom, large game console, monitor, drone, electric guitar and printer and scanner. This was published on social mecia channels by the airline.

 

 

 

Last week Qatar Airways was removed from a US ban on laptops and large electronics in airplane cabins.

Qatar Airways’ statement said that with "immediate effect, all personal electronic devices can be carried on board all departures from Hamad International Airport to destinations in the United States."

“Qatar Airways and Hamad International Airport have met with all requirements of the US Department of Homeland Security’s new security guidelines and we would like to express our thanks to the US and local authorities for their support during this process. We would also like to thank our loyal passengers for their understanding and patience while the ban has been in place,” the statement said.
