u In the first round of play-offs they defeated the Toronto Maple Leafs in overtime of the deciding Game Seven. In the semi-finals, they cruised past the New York Rangers 4-1 before crushing the highly favoured Pittsburgh Penguins in four straight games in the conference final.
u The Bruins’ head coach is 53-year-old Canadian Claude Julien, a former NHL defenceman who joined Boston in 2007 after being fired by Montreal and then the New Jersey Devils.
u The captain is hulking Slovakian defenseman Zdeno Chara. He has been selected for the NHL All Star Game six times and has been a five-time winner of the ‘Hardest Shot’ event at the annual skills competition. He currently holds the record for the hardest shot, which was timed at 108.8 mph.REUTERS
