Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi takes part in 41st Session of Unesco General Conference.
Paris: The State of Qatar is participating in the 41st session of the General Conference of the United Nations Educational, Scientific and Cultural Organisation (Unesco) which started yesterday in the French capital, Paris, and will continue until November 24. The delegation of the State of Qatar to the conference is headed by Minister of Education and Higher Education H E Buthaina bint Ali Al Jabr Al Nuaimi.
The Minister of Education and Higher Education is scheduled to participate in the Global Education Meeting (GEM), which aims to stimulate global political commitments to further highlight the importance of education and the need for investments in educational sectors as a primary driver to recover from the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, accelerate the plan to reach the 2030 goals, and transform the future of education for the better. On the sidelines of the 41st session, the Minister of Education and Higher Education met with H E Unesco Assistant Director-General for Education Dr. Stefania Giannini to discuss the implementation of the joint action plan between Qatar and Unesco, as well as aspects of cooperation in the fields of education between the two sides, and ways to enhance them.
Unesco Director-General Audrey Azoulay in the opening address affirmed the support of countries to overcome the effects of the coronavirus (COVID-19) pandemic, and noted the pivotal role of digital education.
