DOHA: The Qatari-French Business Club (QFBC) yesterday held its monthly networking event with an objective to make use of the French expertise in the implementation of FIFA World Cup 2022 related projects, a press statement said yesterday.
During the event M Christian Dumond, CEO of Bouygues Construction Qatar, presented a new initiative called “French Team for Sport”.
The “French Team for Sport” objectives are to promote the French know-how in the Qatari market and make use of the French expertise to participate in the implementation of the World Cup related projects. Initiated by the French government and the private sector, the initiative is structured around sector-based clusters, such as construction and environment.
Additional clusters are expected to be created in other fields such as security, consultancy. It aims to offer integrated solutions on the whole sport event value chain and provide innovative responses to address Qatar challenges.
The “French Team for Sport” is supported by QFBC, along with the French Olympic Committee, the French Embassy in Qatar, the CCEF Group, the French Bank of Public Investment and Ubifrance. Moreover, “French Team for Sport” will soon nominate a French ambassador for sports, an athlete or a former athlete, to officially represent the French team to the Qatari authorities.
The French Ambassador to Qatar, Jean-Christophe Peaucelle encouraged and congratulated this initiative as well as highlighted how the French “savoir-faire” can support Qatar’s development.
QFBC is an active networking platform for Qatari and French businessmen willing to meet together in order to promote and consolidate business ties between France and Qatar. To facilitate information sharing between its members, coming from a broad range of business sectors, QFBC holds regular networking events such as its monthly gathering, called “QFBC Tuesday evening” and some special events exclusive for the members.
