Doha, Qatar: Paris Saint-Germain (PSG) yesterday announced the launch of the PSG Labs, a pioneering global initiative designed to accelerate cutting-edge technology in sports, fan experience, and performance; and the launch of its first international PSG Lab in Doha, reinforcing its role as a leader in sports technology and fostering new collaborations in one of the world’s fastest-growing tech ecosystems and a strategic gateway to cutting-edge research and technology in the Middle East.
The lab will serve as a dedicated office where startups from across the Middle East can connect with PSG to explore partnerships aimed at solving business challenges and accelerating technological development.
“Paris Saint-Germain has always been at the forefront of innovation—both on and off the pitch,” said PSG President Nasser Al Khelaïfi.
“PSG Labs is a natural extension of our ambition to shape the future of sports. By collaborating with the brightest innovators from around the world, we can accelerate game-changing ideas and further solidify our position as a global leader in innovation. With our first international PSG Lab in Doha, our goal is to drive innovation on a global scale and set new benchmarks for the entire sports industry.” Addressing a press conference on the sideline of the Web Summit Qatar 2025 yesterday, PSG’s Chief Innovation and Digital Officer, Jerry Newman, noted that the decision to establish PSG’s first regional lab in Doha reflects the club’s recognition of the region’s rising importance as a global tech hub.

“Due to the importance of the region and Doha specifically, we’re launching our first regional lab. We’re very keen to work with partners across the Middle East,” Newman reiterated. “Through this regional lab, we hope to accelerate the progress of startups, solve our business problems, and drive innovation forward.” Newman emphasized PSG’s eagerness to work with tech companies to help them grow and refine their products. By embedding itself in the local ecosystem, PSG aims to foster innovation not only within its own operations but also among regional entrepreneurs who are pushing boundaries in technology.
According to him, innovation is deeply ingrained in PSG’s DNA, driven by leadership that embraces cutting-edge thinking. “PSG’s president serves as the club’s ‘real Chief Innovation Officer,’ setting the tone for a culture that prioritizes creativity and problem-solving. From leveraging technology to diversifying workflows, PSG approaches innovation much like a tech company—starting with business challenges and working backward to find solutions,” said Newman. He added that the club was one of the first to actually have a live press conference on a Qatar Airlines flight, which is a new start.
“Most recently, we’ve worked closely with our partners, beIN Sports, who are the right owners for Ligue 1 in the US, to deliver the first live VR broadcast of a Ligue 1 or even a European football competitive match in the US. So, through working with our partners, we look to solve business problems, be creative and co-develop with everyone,” Newman said.
