DOHA: The Qatar Athletics Federation (QAF) yesterday unveiled its new logo and acronym.
Formerly Qatar Association of Athletics Federation (QAAF), the new logo was unveiled by federation President Dahlan Jumaan Al Hamad at a press conference.
QAF also presented its new modern logo, with which it enters a new modern era in Qatar’s athletics history.
“Every sketch in the new icon has its own special meaning,” Al Hamad said.
“The three golden lanes in the upper part of the logo symbolise the maximum velocity and the single golden lane in the lower part stands for the starting block,” he explained.
“The runner who is coming out of the starting block is heading towards victory, the gold medal, through the golden lanes,” the QAF president said.
Mohammed Al Kuwari, Secretary General, QAF, said Doha is targeting to increase awareness and boost the image and popularity of its social media platforms on Facebook and Twitter.
“Both platforms facebook.com/sdldoha and twitter.com/sdldoha have been active since their official inauguration last year and in both pages visitors and followers can find useful information,” Al Kuwari said. “Fans can also find material concerning not only Doha meeting but all other fraternal Samsung Diamond League meetings, along with information on the results of Qatari athletes around the globe,” he added.
