Doha: Qatar University (QU) and Ibn Haldun University (IHU) in Turkey agreed to exchange their students in support of individual growth and development and to sustain the development of a knowledge-based economy through the appropriate transfer of knowledge.

The agreement was signed by QU President Dr. Hassan Al Derham and IHU President Dr. Atilla Arkan.

The two parties signed an agreement launching a PhD dual degree program aimed at students pursuing a doctorate degree of PhD in Business Administration at QU and PhD in Management at IHU, where this dual degree will assist each educational institution in attaining their educational missions through promoting active cooperation between the two institutions.

On the occasion, QU President Dr. Hassan Al Derham said, “Our relationship with Ibn Haldun University (IHU) started from the founding of the IHU. His Highness Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al-Thani held a vested interest in this promising project, especially in the field of social sciences and humanities. This indicates the common interest between the leadership of Qatar and Turkey.”

He added, “In its role as a national university, Qatar University has great interest in the development of its social sciences and humanities programs and has started to advance in this program for quite some time. We consider this agreement a major step between the two universities in the execution of cooperation.”

Dr. Atilla Arkan, President of IHU, said, “Through this agreement, we seek to strengthen relations between us and Qatar University. We will focus on our development through student exchange programs and cooperation in studies and research, as well as programs that will develop and assist professors.”
