Hanan wins CDC cricket tournament 2015

Hanan XII captain Kadar and team mates receive winning trophy from chief guest Kadir of CDC in presence of QVC officials

 

Doha: In the finals of the Ist Division of the 27th CDC Cricket Tournament 2015, Hanan XII  defeated  M Pallonji by 41 runs.

Hanan XII won the toss and decided to bat first, putting up a formidable score of 208 runs. Their player Imran scored 77 runs off only 29 balls with 9 sixes and 4 boundaries. Captain Niyamat scored 33 runs off 15 deliveries with 4 sixes. Another player Aswar scored 24 runs with 3 sixes and Khalifa was not out at 22 runs with 2 sixes and a boundary. 

M Pallonji fielders gave their best performance. Ballers Thisuru and Dikshit took 3 wickets each while Neeraj, Nihal, Naveed and Raziq took a wicket each.

In reply M Pallonji could not maintain the momentum and could reach only 167 runs for the loss of 10 wickets. Dikshit was the only one to resist scoring 55 runs with 6 sixes. Neeraj was not out on 15 runs while Ibrahim scored 19 runs with 2 sixes and a boundary.

Hisham and Khadar took 2 wickets each while Nazir, Imran, Amin and Aswar took a wicket each. Imran won the Man of the Finals and the best all rounder of the Tournament awards. Aswar of Hanan XII was voted the best bowler of the tournament. Meanwhile Talha and Neeraj of M Pallonji won the best batsman of the tournament and best wicket keeper of the tournament. 

The Prize Distribution ceremony began with a two-minute silence observed as a mark of respect for the Late Mohamed AlShamlan who was a pillar of the Qatar Veterans’ League. 

As a permanent remembrance, it was announced that the concluding tournament of the season sponsored by QALCO would hence forth be named as Mohamed Alshamlan Memorial Cricket Tournament.

Over 300 prizes were given away to various players in the tournament.

The Peninsula
