Doha, Qatar: The Amir HH Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani inaugurated the 22nd edition of the Doha Forum 2024 under the theme "The Innovation Imperative" at the Sheraton Doha Hotel this morning.
The opening ceremony was attended by President of the Republic of Senegal HE Bassirou Diomaye Faye, President of the Dominican Republic HE Luis Rodolfo Abinader, President of the Republic of Namibia HE Dr. Nangolo Mbumba, Chairwoman of Bosnia and Herzegovina Presidency HE Zeljka Cvijanovic, President of the Republic of Kazakhstan HE Kassym-Jomart Tokayev, President of the Republic of Rwanda HE Paul Kagame and President of the Central African Republic HE Faustin-Archange Touadera.
Also in attendance were Prime Minister of the Arab Republic of Egypt HE Dr. Mostafa Madbouly, Prime Minister of Saint Vincent and the Grenadines HE Ralph Gonsalves, Prime Minister of Barbados HE Mia Amor Mottley, President of the 78th session of the UN General Assembly HE Dennis Francis, Secretary-General of the GCC HE Jasem Mohamed Al Budaiwi, as well as heads of delegations from brotherly and friendly countries.
The ceremony was also attended by Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani, Speaker of the Shura Council HE Hassan bin Abdullah Al Ghanim, a number of ministers, heads of diplomatic missions accredited to the State of Qatar, senior officials, academics, policymakers, parliamentarians, intellectuals, business leaders, media professionals, and representatives of regional and international organizations and civil society groups.
During the event, HH the Amir presented the Doha Forum Award to several recipients, including Wael Al Dahdouh and Carmen Joukhadar, correspondents for Al Jazeera Network, independent photojournalist Moataz Azaiza, AFP journalists Dylan Collins and Christina Assi, Director of Arman FM and Arakizia FM Sadaf Popalzai.
Prime Minister and Minister of Foreign Affairs HE Sheikh Mohammed bin Abdulrahman bin Jassim Al-Thani delivered a speech on the occasion.
First Lady of the United States of America HE Dr. Jill Biden also delivered a keynote address.
