Wardha Imran
If clothes have the power to change one’s feelings, then it’s pretty important to feel good in them!
It’s essential to be comfortable and confident in wearing an outfit. I would like to see my clients celebrate their clothes, says Wardha Imran, arguably the first Sri Lankan fashion designer in Doha to have established her brand.
She has established the brand’ @bywardhaa,’ building on her childhood passion for creativity. Wardha is a teacher turned fashion designer, but her love for creativity started at 13. As a school-going young girl, she started making footwear and developed drawing Mehendi (henna) designs, wedding decor, abstract painting, and designing clothes.
Though she took a break from her creative work due to postpartum challenges, Wardha says it made her a stronger person.
“After giving birth to my second child, I suffered from postpartum anxiety. That slowed down everything in my life. But I recovered by myself to face the world and appear to be a stronger person,” said Wardha.
“At that point, I started the clothing line @bywardhaa. I strive to succeed in my business while uplifting others. I want to leave a legacy, connect with people in my journey to inspire and support each other. I’m passionate about giving others a taste of my experience as motivation,” said the emerging designer.
According to Wardha, Qatar provides a perfect platform to establish a fashion brand.
“Qatar has a vibrant fashion industry with fashionable people and the presence of big brands in the country. It also offers many opportunities for budding fashion entrepreneurs to learn and develop their business,” she said.
The designs of @bywardhaa are modest fashion clothes for women containing more than 30 collections to date.
“Every woman deserves to feel confident and comfortable in style,” said Wardha.

The collections of @bywardhaa are embodied with fresh, versatile, and feminine ideas in exciting colours and easy-to-wear pieces. Besides fashion, the theme of collections tends to inspire women to unlock their potentials.
Speaking about a design that has a hand embroider wing cape, Wardha said, “Women should be brave, spread their wings and fly. The embroidery wing with golden dust emphasizes such a strong personality.”

Referring to a tri-coloured Abaya from the Ameile collection Wardha said, “It’s a classy design inspired by nature colours to give good vibes and confidence.”
“Most clients prefer to customise their clothes, so we do designs according to their requirements,” said Wardha.
As the founder of her fashion venture, Wardha is making strategic decisions about marketing her designs.
“Social media is an incredible tool to grow your audience and business when used correctly. I have my social media marketing strategies. I don’t overload with content. I understand the importance of posting with intention,” she said.
Wardha pushes the needle forward in terms of beauty and diversity when casting for her collections. The designer also believes in breaking the stereotype. “Somewhere in the pursuit of showcasing perfect beauty, we have misunderstood and, therefore, misrepresented beauty,” she said.
“My clients are my models. Bloggers and influencers too model for me. I strongly believe that those who wear my designs in daily life are the ones who can portray them perfectly,” she added.
