Doha: The mandatory hotel booking for three nationalities through Discover Qatar for visa on arrival has been removed from its website.
It is not clear if the hotel booking requirement for Indian, Iranian and Pakistani nationals arriving in Qatar on visa on arrival, which was to come into force from April 14, is removed completely or taken down temporarily.
When The Peninsula called the Discover Qatar helpline, they said that they are waiting for further instructions from the ministry and will update the website accordingly. The customer service executive also added that if the requirement is removed entirely those booked yesterday will be fully refunded or if the rule is amended then the website will be updated accordingly in the coming days.
Discover Qatar, on April 5, 2022, had announced the change in requirements and added compulsory hotel booking for Indian, Iranian and Pakistani nationals for the length of stay in Qatar. The decision had evoked a lot of comments on social media asking the authorities to rethink the measure.
