Bruins hand Canucks fifth straight loss

Boston: The Boston Bruins continued their home ice dominance with a victory over the floundering Vancouver Canucks.
Milan Lucic and right winger Jarome Iginla had a goal and an assist each and goaltender Tuukka Rask stopped 27 shots as the Bruins (36-16-3) improved their home record to 22-6-2, including 19-3-2 in their last 24 games.
Vancouver (27-22-9) lost five straight, the last two in two nights since coach John Tortorella returned from his 15-day league suspension. The Canucks have one goal in the two games.
Kyle Turris scored in the fifth round of the shootout and goaltender Robin Lehner made 46 saves in regulation and overtime and three more in the shootout to lead the Ottawa Senators to a victory over the St Louis Blues.
The New York Rangers put together their first four-game winning streak of the season, turning back the Colorado Avalanche. New York (31-23-3) received two first-period goals from right wing Ryan Callahan in claiming their seventh win in the last 10 games.
Colorado’s four-game win streak ended with the loss. Left wing Gabriel Landeskog scored for the Avalanche (36-15-5), the best road team in the NHL with a .692 winning percentage.
Minnesota defenseman Jared Spurgeon, who missed the previous 14 games with a foot injury, set up goals by right winger Nino Niederreiter and left winger Dany Heatley in the Wild’s win over the Tampa Bay Lightning.
Tampa Bay got 24 saves from goalie Ben Bishop, who seemed to struggle with control of the puck throughout the night. Center Valtteri Filppula scored for the Lightning (32-19-5), who have lost three of their past four games.
Chris Thorburn scored with 1:03 left and goaltender Ondrej Pavelec stopped 28 shots as the Winnipeg Jets won for the ninth time in their last 11 games under new coach Paul Maurice, defeating the Carolina Hurricanes. 
Winnipeg (28-25-5) played its 33rd one-goal game, tied for second most in the league.Carolina (25-21-9), coming off its second-best January in franchise history (20 points), lost for just the fifth time in 16 games.Reuters
