Doha: The Ministry of Education and Higher Education’s (MoEHE) Early Child Department yesterday held the final qualifiers of its oral fluency contest for the foundation stage. The qualifiers include 164 foundation and preschool students from 30 schools.

Director of the Early Child Department Maryam Al Buainain hailed the contest as one of the department’s key competitions to achieve the MOEHE’s strategy, noting that the contest aims to develop preschool students, raise academic achievement in language skills, and enhance their self-confidence by obtaining the necessary competencies to move to the next educational phases.

Abd Al Salam Ibrahim, an early education instructor for the literary track in the Early Child Department, referred to the nature of the final qualifiers for the oral fluency contest for the foundation stage (the first and second grades) during which the winners will be selected through specialised panellists. The winners will be honoured at the closing ceremony next Tuesday.

Fatima Al Hail, a literary track teacher at Abi Hanifa Model School for Boys, explained that the competition contributed to enhancing the students’ self-confidence by pronouncing the letters fluently.
