Fifa fines Saudi Arabia and UAE for violations during World Cup qualifiers

Doha: Fifa's Disciplinary Committee has fined the Saudi and UAE football federations for non-compliance with rights of the media during the qualifiers.    

Saudi has been asked to pay a fine of 7500 Swiss francs in addition to a warning with regards to violation of media obligations during a match with UAE.   

For a similar violation, warning along with a fine of 20000 swiss francs was issued against UAE federation for their match against Iraq.   

Arabic daily AlSharq reported that the Saudi and UAE national teams declined to appear on the network of Qatar-owned "beIN Sports" channels during their qualifier matches.  

Fifa confirmed a number of warning and fine imposed for incidents that occured during the 2018 FIFA World Cup qualifiers. 

Apart from the violation of media obligations, the Saudi and UAE federation was also warned for pitch invasion by supporters, security issues, delayed kick off and improper conduct among spectators.
