CHANSS-Qatar celebrates Gandhi Jayanti and Onam

DOHA: The Changanacherry NSS College Alumni Assocaition-Qatar Chapter (CHANSS-Qatar) celebrated Gandhi Jayanti, birth anniversary of Mahatma Gandhi, which is also the International Day of Non-Violence, at a function at the Crystal Palace Hotel in Doha on Friday.

A A Shukoor, former Member of the Legislative Assembly from the State of Kerala, and Mannar Ajith Prabha, a former student and youth activist,  paid tributes to Gandhiji, highlighting his commitment to non-violence and peaceful solutions to conflict.

A youngster dressed up like Gandhi took the centre stage, as members expressed their respect and admiration to India's Father of Nation.

CHANSS also celebrated Onam, with a traditional welcome extended to the legendary 'King Mahabali'.

There were several musical and cultural programmes by CHANSS members, followed by the traditional Onam Sadya (feast served in banana leaves). More than 300 people attended the function.

CHANSS-Qatar president Bindu Varghese welcomed the gathering while General Secretary Giridharan Nair proposed a vote of thanks.

Galfar-Al Misnad Engineering and Contracting, Progressive Trading and Contracting and Jumbo Electronics were the sponsors of the event.
