Cairo: Qatar, represented by Ministry of Municipality, participated in the 58th Executive Council of the Arab Organization for Agricultural Development (AOAD), which started today in Cairo, Egypt.
The Qatar delegation was headed by Assistant Undersecretary for Agriculture and Food Security Affairs, Eng. Fahad Mohammed Al Qahtani , along with representatives from member states. The meeting covered key agricultural issues, enhancing food security across the Arab world, and tracking the progress of various agricultural development strategies and initiatives.
During the meeting, Executive Council reviewed Director-General’s report on the organization’s achievements from May to December 2024. The report included an evaluation of the progress made in implementing regional agricultural strategies, developing the agricultural sector, and advancing food security efforts in the region.
The agenda also included a review of Arab Sustainable Agricultural Development Strategy for 2030, and an assessment of its progress during the first half of its implementation. Furthermore, the council discussed Arab Strategy for Sustainable Food Security and Arab Strategy for Sustainable Rangeland Management (2020-2040).
Other topics included the progress of Arab Aquaculture Strategy (20172037), ways to strengthen Arab networks to tackle challenges like droughts and sandstorms, and support for regional technical projects.
The sessions also covered the organization’s initiative to manage carbon credit utilization and the action plan to transform food systems.
