Cairo: Egyptian Foreign Minister Badr Abdelatty stressed in a phone call with US Middle East envoy Steve Witkoff the importance of maintaining and solidifying the ceasefire agreement in Gaza.
He also underscored the need to allow the delivery of a larger amount of humanitarian and relief aid at an accelerated and intensive pace to meet the urgent needs of the population in Gaza, given the severe deterioration of the humanitarian situation.
During the call, both sides discussed the latest developments regarding the implementation of the ceasefire agreement in Gaza and the need to fully carry out its three phases.
The Egyptian Ministry of Foreign Affairs stated in a press release today that Abdelatty reviewed the ongoing coordination and consultations between Egypt and the new US administration, commenting on the phone call that took place between the two countries' presidents on Feb. 1
The Egyptian Foreign Minister emphasized the important role of the United States in ensuring the implementation of the ceasefire agreement and in reaching a final resolution to the Palestinian-Israeli conflict in accordance with international legitimacy resolutions. He reiterated the need to achieve lasting peace, security, and stability in the region goals long aspired to by its people while putting an end to the ongoing conflict that has plagued the region for decades, in full cooperation with the administration of US President Donald Trump.
