Asian Handball Club Championship 2012 begins tomorrow

Doha: The 15th Asian Handball Club Championship 2012 will begin here tomorrow.

The championship will end on November 15.

The championship will feature 13 Asian clubs vying for the top honours.

The participating clubs have been divided into three groups. 

Qatar’s representative, Eljaish SC is pooled in Group A beside Al Ahli (UAE), Kuwait SC of Kuwait and Al Sadd of Lebanon.

Qatar’s second representative, Al Rayyan SC is drawn in Group B alongside Al Jazeerah (UAE), Al Noor (KSA), Muscat of Oman. Group C includes defending champions, Mudhar (KSA), Thamen Al Hejaj (Iran), Al Arabi (Kuwait), Al Ahli (Bahrain) and Jiangsu of China.

Thamen Al Hejaj of Iran arrived in Doha on Tuesday while Kuwait of Kuwait and Mudhar of Saudi Arabia arrived yesterday.  The Asian Handball Club League Championship is the official competition for men’s handball clubs of Asia, and takes place every year. In addition to crowning the Asian champions, the tournament also serves as a qualifying tournament for the Super Globe. QNA
