Enduring strategic partnership

The visit of Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani to Oman underscores the deep-rooted and historically strong ties between the two nations. Qatar and Oman share a relationship built on mutual respect, cultural affinity, and strategic cooperation, which has flourished over the years. This visit reaffirms the commitment to further strengthening bilateral relations and highlights the shared vision for regional stability. H H the Amir was accorded an official reception ceremony on His Highness's arrival at the Al Alam Palace in Muscat in response to the invitation from H M Sultan Haitham bin Tariq of the Sultanate of Oman. The two sides discussed bilateral relations and ways to foster them, primarily in the areas of economy, investment, education, research and development. They underscored the importance of enhancing the use of investment and trade opportunities to consolidate the strong relations between the two countries and peoples and achieve their common interests. The foundation of Qatar-Oman relations lies in their shared Gulf identity and common values. Both nations have consistently supported each other on regional and international platforms, advocating for dialogue, cooperation, and peaceful resolutions to conflicts. Economically, Qatar and Oman have made significant strides in enhancing cooperation. Trade and investment ties have grown steadily, with both nations exploring opportunities in sectors such as energy, tourism, logistics, and food security. The establishment of the Qatar-Oman Joint Committee has been instrumental in fostering economic collaboration, paving the way for joint ventures and partnerships that benefit both economies. Additionally, the geographical proximity of the two countries has facilitated seamless connectivity boosting people-to-people exchanges.  Over the past few years, economic and trade cooperation between Qatar and Oman has witnessed remarkable development in sectors like agriculture, livestock, transportation, communications, energy, tourism, education, construction, and banking services. The trade volume between the two countries reached $1.2bn during the first seven months of 2024. The Qatar-Oman relationship is a model of cooperation, characterised by trust, mutual respect, and a shared vision for the future. As the two nations continue to build on their historic ties, their partnership serves as a beacon of stability and progress in the region. The visit by H H the Amir is an opportunity to enhance joint cooperation in various fields.
