Doha: The Ministry of Interior concluded the advanced course for security awareness trainers, which was organised by the Qualification and Training Unit of the Security and Safety Operations Committee for the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 over a week, in cooperation with the US Federal Bureau of Investigation (FBI).
The course, in which 17 female trainees participated, included a set of concepts and principles of security sense, such as the principles of monitoring and tracking, readiness and preparation for major events, especially in the field of security and safety, analysis and mitigation of threats and risks, with specialised case studies in the field of violence and crime.
During the closing ceremony of the course, Brigadier Ibrahim Khalil Al Mohannadi, Head of the Legal Affairs and Communication Unit in the Security and Safety Operations Committee of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022, praised the level of cooperation with the US side in the field of security qualification and training.
“Cooperation with the Federal Bureau of Investigation and the help of its experts comes due to their skills and experience in the field of security sense and behavioural patterns, and the employment of this important specialisation in the security and safety of the public visiting the State of Qatar in 2022,” he said.
He explained that all male and female coaches in the Security Sense Programme are responsible for qualifying and training at least 50,000 participants in organising and securing the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022.
For her part, Chargé d’Affaires at the US Embassy Qatar Natalie Baker, expressed her happiness for this cooperation and the training of Qatari female police officers by FBI experts, which contributes to strengthening the proactive and preventive security work, stressing that these training programmes reflect the strength of the relationship between her country and the State of Qatar.
She also affirmed her country’s support for the safety and Security Operations Committee (SSOC) of the FIFA World Cup Qatar 2022 with all the resources and expertise it needs, adding that “the skills acquired during these courses will be valuable as Qatar prepares to secure the largest sporting event ever to be held in the Middle East.”
On the nature of these training courses, Lt. Col. Fahd Al Subaie, Head of the Rehabilitation and Training Unit of the Committee, explained that they are the result of cooperation and coordination with the US Embassy in Doha, which began in 2018 and culminated in the implementation of a number of courses to prepare male and female trainers in the field of security.
This group of female trainees constitutes the third group who received training in the security sense specialization, bringing the number of qualified trainers in this field to 73 male and female trainers.
