Washington: Amir H H Sheikh Tamim bin Hamad Al Thani arrived in Washington yesterday on a working visit to the United States of America.
On his arrival at Andrews Air Force Base, H H the Amir was received by Chief of Protocol of the United States H E Rufus Gifford, the Commander of the 89th American Air Transport Support Group Colonel Carlos Alford, Qatar’s Ambassador to the United States of America, H E Sheikh Mishaal bin Hamad Al Thani, and members of the Qatari Embassy in Washington. H H the Amir is accompanied by an official delegation.
H H the Amir will meet with H E Joe Biden, the President of the United States of America, in Washington, DC, today.
The discussions of the Amir and the US President will deal with ways to support and strengthen the strong partnership and cooperation relations between the two countries, in addition to issues of common interest, foremost of which are the latest regional and international developments and ways to enhance security and stability in the region.
On the eve of visit of H H the Amir, Ambassador of the State of Qatar to the US H E Sheikh Mishaal has underlined the tireless efforts of H H the Amir and his keenness to strengthen economic, political, and military relations with the US.
The Ambassador said that the Qatari-US relations have witnessed a quantum leap in the past few years, this was demonstrated by raising the level of trade exchange between the two countries, exchanging visits at the highest levels, and strengthening the military, economic, security and cultural relations.
The Ambassador stressed his confidence that this visit will constitute an opportunity to confirm the consensus of visions between the State of Qatar and the US on many regional and international issues, whether it is related to combating terrorism, Afghanistan, Yemen, Syria, Libya, climate change and other urgent international issues.
The visit constitutes a new step on the road to building and strengthening strategic cooperation and continuous consultation between the two leaderships and the two friendly countries to serve their common goals and interests, and contribute to achieving regional stability, security, and global peace, in a clear indication of the distinguished role played by the State of Qatar under the leadership of H H the Amir on the international scene.
His Highness’ visit to the US coincides with the two countries’ preparations to celebrate the 50th anniversary of the establishment of diplomatic relations between them in 1972.
The two countries have established a solid base for distinguished regional and international political relations, in addition to understandings, agreements, and a deep economic, investment, security and societal partnership. Doha has become an indispensable centre in the US strategy in the Middle East, the Arabian Peninsula and the Indian Ocean.
