Doha: Many students from an education centre have complained that they were cheated by the centre by offering fake certificates, Al-Sharq reported.

Most of the students joined the centre after receiving an SMS from the centre promoting a course in accounting and business management course. They claimed they will be given a certificate from a distinguished university in UK.

The ministry of education has not authorized this kind of centre to issue such certificates.

The ministry had even issued an order to close the centre relating to other issues, but it had not complied with the order.

The people who enrolled for the course discovered that such courses are only provided by universities.

After registration and paying fees, the beginning of the course was delayed and students became doubtful about the certificates given by the center. They realized that the certificates issued are fake and have no relation with any famous university in Britain, Al-Sharq reported.

The students got in touch with a number of British government agencies through their websites and enquired about the center. From the information they gathered they realized the centre is related to a company established in Britain paying 200 pounds and its owners are the same as those of the centre.

The students asked the center in Qatar to return their money and they promised to return the money to people working with government agencies. The others were called for a meeting to the centre and when they arrived for the meeting the centre officials called police saying they were attacked by the students. But the police realized it was a false statement and let the students go.

When you register for an offline or online course one has to check the authenticity of the claims by the institute by checking their backgrounds or enquiring with authorities.
