The Doha Film Institute (DFI) announced that they will be showing the award-winning film Until Tomorrow by Ali Asgari at VOX Cinemas, Doha Festival City.

The screening started yesterday and will run until tomorrow, December 31, it said on Twitter.

It can be recalled that partnership between the two institutions was announced in February where every month, DFI will be screening unmissable original film that has garnered considerable acclaim and industry awards.

Until Tomorrow has been featured at several festivals including Zurich Film Festival in Switzerland where it won a Special Mention in the International competition; Berlin International Film Festival, Sao Paulo International Film Festival, Edinburgh International Film Festival, Istanbul Film Festival, Stockholm International Film Festival, Athens International Film Festival, and Guanajuato International Film Festival.

It stars Sadaf Asgari, Ghazal Shojaei, Babak Karimi, Amirreza Ranjbaran, Nahal Dashti. The 90-minute movie is a tragic drama revolving around a young mother living outside of traditionally accepted family norms.

It tells the story of Fereshteh, who is a young mother facing a serious dilemma. On the surface, she is relatively happy, studying and working in a print shop in Tehran, with dreams of one day travelling abroad. But her parents are coming to visit her, and she has kept a secret from them — her two-month-old daughter.

Born out of wedlock and with little help from the father, Fereshteh and her trusted friend Atefeh must resort to increasingly desperate measures to keep her baby hidden and safe in a city with limited options for a mother living outside of traditionally accepted family norms.

Individuals who want to watch the movie can buy tickets at the DFI website. Prices range from QR44 to QR55, depending on the seating. The movie starts at 8pm.

Last month, DFI presented nine captivating short films as part of its Doha Film Experience. The nine short films include the three winners of the 2022 Special 10th Edition of the Ajyal Film Festival. These films are It Feels Personal (UK/2021), It’s Nice in Here (The Netherlands/2022), Canary (Canada/2022), The Headhunter’s Daughter (Philippines, 2021), Ice Merchants (Portugal, UK, France/2022), Mkawda (Algeria/2021), Rest in Piece (Germany, France, Qatar/2021), and Displaced (Kosovo/2021).
