Ryde is a Qatar-based transportation app created to address some of the common problems passengers and drivers face here in Doha. Launched in the summer of 2020 at a time where words like ‘quarantine’ and ‘lockdown’ were inescapable, Ryde felt that high fares for riders and low payouts of drivers from the currently available transportation apps were unacceptable at such a time of uncertainty. The company adopted the term “Fareness” to mean fair fares for those in the back seat and fair wage for those behind the wheel. The company believes in building a community that puts people first.
The Ryde app itself boasts an easy-to-use interface providing three types of Ryde experiences: RydeEco, a budget-friendly option when you’re not in a hurry. Ryde, a standard option for efficient smooth rides. Then there’s RydeBIG, which provides either a roomy standard or SUV for when friends or families are on the go. You can also schedule to be picked up in any of these options directly from the app. You’ll often find discounts and promotions popping up on Ryde that allow riders to save without compromising the drivers’ wallets.
Putting community first, Ryde also provides businesses and organizations with tailored transportations solutions through RydeBusiness. A leg of the startup that provides more cost-effective ways for companies and their employees to commute.
All in all, Ryde is still new in the market positioning itself to be the go-to app for everyone in Doha who needs to get around and save whilst doing so.
