Friends of Environment Centre hosts Sustainable Iftar event to promote culture of sustainable giving

Doha, Qatar: In an initiative that reflects its commitment to spreading environmental awareness and promoting a culture of sustainable giving, the Friends of the Environment Centre of the Ministry of Sports and Youth, organised a “Sustainable Iftar” event.

The event saw widespread participation from young volunteers, who enthusiastically contributed to preparing and distributing Iftar meals using environmentally friendly materials.

This event came as part of the center’s efforts to promote the concept of sustainability in various aspects of daily life. Biodegradable packaging and environmentally friendly eating utensils were used, contributing to reducing plastic waste and promoting a sense of environmental responsibility among community members.

Dozens of volunteers participated in preparing and distributing meals to fasting passersby at the distribution points, in an atmosphere of solidarity. The event provided an ideal opportunity to foster a spirit of volunteerism and social responsibility among young people.

Fahad Abdullah Malik, Director of Public Relations and Communications at the Friends of the Environment Center, emphasised the importance of this event in promoting the concept of sustainable giving.

He noted that by providing Iftar meals during Ramadan, the centre sought to raise community awareness of the importance of reducing waste and preserving the environment.

The participation of young volunteers in this event reflected the growing awareness among the new generation of the importance of integrating sustainability into all charitable and social initiatives.

He pointed out that the initiative was widely welcomed by the community, with participants and beneficiaries praising the efforts made to provide healthy meals in sustainable ways.

The center also called for adopting similar practices in various Ramadan events to ensure a positive environmental impact in the long term.

The “Sustainable Iftar” event is part of the Friends of the Environment Centre’s vision to promote a balance between charitable work and environmental protection, reflecting the global trend toward achieving sustainable development goals and encouraging initiatives that combine the humanitarian dimension with environmental responsibility.
