Sudden changes in weather until mid-May as Al Sarayat season begins

Doha: There is an increased chance of rain expected in some areas tomorrow, March 31, according to a weekend weather forecast.

Qatar Meteorology Department (QMD) stated that weather conditions on Friday will be partly cloudy as well, with winds ranging from 5-15KT, gusting to 22KT in the southeasterly to southwesterly direction. 

The department also issued a warning for low visibility on Friday, accompanied with strong winds, inshore and offshore, on Saturday. 

The first day of April will witness dusty weather conditions alongwith strong winds ranging from 20-30KT, gusting to 40KT in the northwesterly direction. Sea height are also forecasted to reach from 6-10ft rising to 14ft offshore. 

Temperatures on April 1 is expected to range from 22 degrees Celsius, at the lowest, and 27 degrees Celsius, at the highest. 

In a recent post, QMD announced the start of Al Sarayat season which brings sudden weather changes. This typically begins during the last third of March and extends until the middle of May. 

"It is well known for its fast convective cloud developments during a short period of time followed by thundery rain mostly heavy in intensity accompanied with active lightning and strong downdraft wind that cause rising dust in limited areas," the Department stated.
