Doha: The Philippine International Institute Qatar (PIIQ), and UAE-based Western International College (WINC) have signed an agreement to offer undergraduate and graduate courses.
PIIQ CEO and Founder Annaliza Diet and WINC Operation Manager Asif Siddiqui signed the agreement.
WINC is an academic infrastructure provider to the University of Bolton in the United Kingdom.
Diet told The Peninsula that the partnership further strengthens their position as a learning institution providing top-notch quality education in the country. The programme offers Bachelors and Master Degree courses through distance learning.
“Successful students will receive an award of its partner universities or other awarding bodies. This collaboration will provide students with the opportunity to gain a globally recognised qualification while studying in the comfort of their home. We believe this partnership will open doors for our students and provide them with a brighter future.
"This will be a great help to our students in order for them to complete their degree level while working abroad. More importantly, this will be another venture into a new level where our students can have more opportunities globally.”
Enrolment is ongoing and classes will start in May. The course fee depends on the programme, and usually ranges from QR18,000 per year. Diet noted that once a student completes the course, she can attend the graduation in the UK, and if they are planning to continue their studies at the university, they will be provided with a student visa.
Siddiqui, meanwhile, stressed the importance of providing students with flexible learning options, and highlighted that WINC partnered with the University of Bolton to offer programmes in distance learning.
“We understand that many of our students are working professionals who cannot afford to leave their jobs to pursue higher education. That’s why we have partnered with the University of Bolton to provide students with the opportunity to finish their courses while also being able to continue working. This partnership enables students to achieve their educational goals without having to sacrifice their careers and to become a University of Bolton degree holder.”
Among the academic programme offerings are: BSc (Hons) Business Management, BEng (Hons) Software Engineering, Bachelor in Healthcare and Social Care Management, Masters of Business Administration, and MSc Accountancy and Financial Management.
Meanwhile, 389 students recently graduated with a Diploma in Nursing Assistant acquired from PIIQ. This is the 22nd batch of graduates from the said programme.
“The institute undertook a series of reforming exercises to become what it is today. We now welcome students to come forward to experience the difference. Keeping abreast of this contemporary world of cut throat competitions, we at PIIQ, aim at creating an interdisciplinary and a holistic academic environment that enables students to gain knowledge without stress,” Diet said in a speech.
Currently, the institute has opened its admission for the Nursing Assistant Diploma. PIIQ is offering 75 certification courses, 12 diploma courses, and seven degree courses.
Among the courses are Procurement Management, Early Childhood Education, Medical Coding, Caregiving, Automotive, HR Management, Sales and Marketing, Videography, Web Design, Logistics, and Corel, among others.
