Katara European Jazz Festival begins

Doha: The 2nd edition of the popular annual event- Katara European jazz festival kicked off on Wednesday at the Cultural Village Foundation-Katara with the participation of the embassies of Austria, France, Germany, Netherlands, Italy, Spain and Switzerland.
The festival brings some of the finest proponents of European Jazz music to Doha. Each embassy will host one jazz group representing its country.
The Jazz Festival started with Austria through Falb Fiction.. Around the word by Viola Falb. Festivities of the first day continued with the musicians from Germany and the Shreefpunk Reloaded by Maththias Schriefl.
The musical event  will continue on Friday with  Francesco Bearzatti Tinissima 4et from Italy at 8pm, and on Saturday with Albin Brun Alpin Ensemble from Switzerland at 7pm, and Biel Ballester Trio from Spain on Saturday at 9pm and Michiel Borstlap from The Netherlands, on November 1 at 8pm.

The festival features workshops at QMA for local music students and will continue until November 1.
The festivities were launched in the presence of  ambassador of France, Eric Chevalliep, charge d’affair at the Austrian embassy, Sieglinde Fedele di Catrano, ambassador of Switzerland, Etienne Thevoz, ambassador of Spain, Ignacio Escobar Guerrero,  ambassador of Italy, Guido De Sanctis, and ambassador of Germany, Hans-Udo Muzel. The Indian envoy to Doha Sanjiv Arora was also present.
Darweesh Ahmad Al Shibani, Marketing and Public Relation Director at Katara, said on the occasion: “The increase in number of participating countries at the festival indicate the keenness for boosting the cultural and artistic interaction. It is a vivid illustration of the cultural communication and humane dialogue amongst people.”
