Oh no, another weekend of relatively hot and humid weather? Here are quite a few indoor activities for you to enjoy.

Shapes & Hues Exhibition

A diverse array of works by renowned international Filipino visual artist Frederick Epistola is on show at his solo exhibition titled Hugis at Kulay (Shapes and Hues) which launched at Katara Cultural Village.

The centerpiece of the exhibition is a mixed media on wood piece, one of the artist’s latest works, dedicated to hardworking overseas Filipino workers around the world.

An abstract expressionist painter, collagist, sculptor and photography enthusiast, Epistola has produced wide ranging art pieces in different mediums from mixed media to clay to metal sculpture some of which are now part of permanent collections of museums and cultural institutions in various countries such as the US, Switzerland and Italy.

DFI Cinema Presents: ‘Yomeddine'

The Doha Film Institute presents ‘contemporary releases’, a selection of the latest internationally and regionally acclaimed films. The series will include recent festival favourites, as well as the emerging new voices of DFI granted filmmakers. This weekend’s screening will be Yomedinne.

Film Synopsis:
Beshay - a man cured of leprosy - has never left the leper colony in the Egyptian desert where he has lived since childhood. Following the death of his wife, he finally decides to go in search of his roots. With his meager possessions strapped to a donkey cart, he sets out. Quickly joined by Obama, the Nubian orphan he has taken under his wing, Beshay will cross Egypt and confront the world with all its sorrows, its hardships and moments of grace, in his quest for a family, a place to belong, and a little humanity.

The tickets are priced at QR 35 for General Public and QR 25 for Student & Culture Pass by Qatar Museums Discount

Infinite Dimensions

55 artworks created by 19 Doha-based artists during their nine-month residency at Doha Fire Station is on at the Garage Gallery. Divided into three sections, each section deals with various themes.

When: 9am to 7pm (Friday: 1:30pm to 7pm) until September 1

LEGO Festival

The festival features different LEGO activities in four different zones spread across Doha Festival City and has a variety of experiences from creative brick building to instructed challenges and physical activities for visitors to engage with.

At the LEGO Friends Zone, participants can meet and engage with five exploring, creative, funny and quirky characters namely Andrea, Emma, Mia, Olivia and Stephanie. The activity also features a photo booth, a silent disco and a creative station where visitors are instructed how to create a LEGO heart that will be added to a giant heart display.

The Lego activities are free of charge for Doha Festival City shoppers.

Making of Doha Exhibition

Qatar Museums sheds light on the amazing urban development Doha has witnessed through the decades in an exhibition dubbed “Making Doha: 1950-2030”.

The objects on display, which were sourced from local and international institutional archives, are complemented by rare interesting interviews with state decision-makers, architects and city planners.

Curated by Rem Koolhaas, Samir Bantal and Fatma Al Sehlawi, the exhibition is divided into four sections including Seeds of a Nation (1950–1971), Modern State (1971–1995), And the World (1995–2010) and Destination Qatar (2010–2030).

The exhibition tells of Doha’s beginnings as well as its future as the country drives towards accomplishing its National Vision.
