Doha, Qatar: The Cultural Village Foundation (Katara) premises came to life yesterday as citizens and residents thronged one of Qatar’s iconic spots to celebrate Eid Al Adha.

There was palpable excitement in the air as families with kids explored the various offerings at Katara, from kids’ plays and games to fashion ceremonies and exciting fireworks. The fireworks show will conclude today and will be held at 8:30 pm. The dazzling spectacle promises to be a visual feast for all. With events taking place from 5 pm to 9 pm, visitors can immerse themselves in the vibrant atmosphere of this renowned cultural hub.

Also, children received beautiful gifts as part of the Katara Eid event. The gifts were distributed at 6:45 pm and 7:30 pm on the Katara Corniche and will continue until the third day of Eid.

The Museum of Arab Postage Stamps in Building 22 presented the Islamic Stamps Exhibition - Hajj and a documentary film about Makkah Al-Mukarramah using VR technology in cooperation with the Ministry of Awqaf and Islamic Affairs. The exhibition will be available to the public until the third day of Eid from 4:30 pm to 8:00 pm.

The large crowd was reminiscent of pre-pandemic times, a sentiment echoed by several visitors The Peninsula spoke to.

“The kids always have a good time coming here during these festivities,” Mohammad Abbasi said.

“It is humid now, but the activities here and the relaxation areas make up for it. Seeing so many people out here remind me of how we were before the pandemic. There are so many things to do, but the fireworks have impressed me so far,” he added.

Meanwhile, at Al-Hikma Square, Katara presented a play that continues until Eid’s third day. A group of actors and kids performed and sang in the play. The play deals with the importance of using the mind and not giving in to the difficulties and challenges in life.

It also promotes cooperation, persistence and positive thinking among children.

The Katara Oud Center in Katara also held a musical event with the Qatari Armed Forces Music Battalion Band expected to perform today. Amateurs and lovers of music and playing instruments can also participate in a competition daily at 8 pm.

“Besides the Eid activities, there are still art shops and places to shop, so it’s an all-in-one atmosphere for families as well as those who don’t have their families here,” Jonathan, a Filipino resident, said.

“Though I am here without family, I am with friends, and we enjoy the holiday. It’s summer, so it is good to get out like this in the evening and not worry about work.”
