Qatari athletes and associations have taken to the social media to share their workout regimes that can be followed by everyone without any gym or equipment. And at a time when more than half the population in Qatar is working from home, videos such as these are surely gaining popularity.
It’s probably Qatar Sports Federation for All (QSFA) that began this trend on March 18 when on its Instagram and Twitter handles shared a video of a warm up-exercise, "to preserve your health and to ensure physical activity under the current circumstances." Followed by various other simple exercise videos that can be done at home. Check out their exercise videos here.
QSFA recently encouraged its followers to take part in a challenge where an innovative home work out video gets a chance to win an iPhone 11 pro.
Official twitter page of Qatar Women's Sport Committe has online yoga sessions every Wednesday from 4pm to 5pm. Women in Qatar can join through Zoom Cloud Meeting App with or without video. The Id and password for joining this activity can be found here.
Apart from these work out sessions, there are quite a few innovative and interesting way to stay fit shared by Qatari National Team athlete Mariam Farid on her twitter and instagram.
Her first tweet on March 22 stresses the importance of staying at home followed by an abdominal exercise - Russian Twist - using a cushion. In another, Farid uses two packs of 12 water bottles on each end of a broomstick for weightlifting exercise.
Her latest video shows Farid exercising with the help of a chair on which her niece is enjoying an ice cream. She captions the video as, "Workout to eat ice cream? God bless my cuty pie niece. P.s: I couldn’t do the exercises right because she was taking the whole space. Couldn’t go lower nor place my hand properly."
Player of Qatar Women's Boxing Team Afaf Al Qorane also shared a video of her Nunchaku, a traditional Okinawan martial arts weapon, training.
More and more celebrities, including Hollywood icons, are encouraging their fans to continue exercising at home via videos on their social media platforms.
