Doha, Qatar: To prioritise patient satisfaction and elevate healthcare quality, Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) has extended an invitation to community members, including current and former patients and their families, to actively participate in providing feedback about their healthcare experiences.

Their feedback will be included as part of HMC’s Patient and Family Advisory Council (PFAC) groups which discuss concerns that influence patient and family members’ experience, prioritise patient experience improvement initiatives, work with hospital teams to design and implement these initiatives, and to guide HMC in its future endeavours to actively participate in shaping the future of person-centred care.

Deputy Chief of Quality for the Center for Patient Experience and Staff Engagement Director of Hamad Healthcare Quality Institute, Nasser Al Naimi, has said that establishing the PFAC has significantly improved the feedback processes across HMC facilities.

“Engaging and listening to our patients, their families, and the wider community is at the heart of our commitment to creating a person-centred approach to care,” he said in a video message.

“As part of HMC’s journey towards patient-centred care, we have created PFAC to develop effective feedback processes where your voices are heard, and the family’s and the patient’s needs are addressed. The fact is to meet the needs of patients’ families and caregivers who collaborate with clinical and support staff at HMC to enhance patient and family experience,” said Al Naimi.

PFACs comprise patients, families, and caregivers who collaborate with clinical, administrative, and support staff at HMC to guide enhancing the patient and family experience. Many patients and family members are currently part of HMC’s PFACs, with each Council meeting monthly and representing different healthcare facilities across HMC.

“We are looking for community members – current and former patients and their families – who can join our PFAC groups in several HMC hospitals. If you believe you have something to offer, we urge you to get in touch,” said Al Naimi. People are encouraged to share their HMC experience by emailing [email protected] or calling 4439-5589 from 7am to 3pm.

HMC’s Communicable Disease Center, the Home Healthcare Service, the Private Nursing Service, the Ambulatory Care Center, and the Enaya Specialized Care Center received Certification in Person-Centred Care from Planetree International in 2022.

Also, the third Person-Centered Care Forum is set to be held in Doha under the theme, “Inspire, Innovate, and Adapt: The Future of Person-Centered Care,” and promises to ignite discussions on groundbreaking strategies to enhance the patient experience within the healthcare ecosystem.
