The Primary Health Care Corporation (PHCC)’s Urgent Care Services are becoming the healthcare service of choice for many patients across the country seeking quick and efficient care for non-life threatening medical needs.

PHCC currently provides 24-hour Urgent Care Service at eight health centres: Rawdat Al Khail, Al Rayyan, Al Kaaban, Al Sheehaniya, Al Ruwais, Muaither, Abu Bakr Al Siddiq, and Um Salal Health Centers. These eight health centres received a total of 81,500 patients seeking Urgent Care Services in 2021.

The health centres provide care for patients, for non-threatening medical needs, such as minor burns, sprains, severe headache or earache, dehydration, and dizziness.

Under Urgent Care Services, PHCC provides a comprehensive service, delivered by a specialised team designed to meet community's urgent medical needs in an easy, accessible, quick and efficient manner.

“People want to be assured that “consistent” health care is available in their community, therefore, the Urgent Care Services provided by PHCC plays a critical role in ensuring the delivery of such services in a consistent manner, whenever and wherever patients may need,” PHCC said on its website.

“PHCC’s efforts are continuing to continuously upgrade and develop the health services provided and all efforts and potential are harnessed for this.

This comes as part of our country’s Qatar’s efforts under its wise leadership to give exceptional attention to the health sector as one of the vital sectors that forms a central pillar of nation-building,” a PHCC statement said
earlier.

Patients with critical conditions will be stabilised and then immediately transferred by EMS for further care at Hamad Medical Corporation (HMC) hospitals for secondary care. The service is accessible to registered patients from any PHCC health centre.

The Urgent Care Services provided by the PHCC together with HMC ensures smooth delivery of care to patients. It is focusing on integrated care in line with the National Health Strategy 2018-2022.

As an integrated service, it aims to improve continuity and timely access across the continuum of multiple settings and levels of care and deliver the right care in the appropriate setting, underpinned by referral guidelines, care pathways and evidence-based practice.
