Doha, Qatar: Qatar Cancer Society has concluded its participation in the “10th Gulf Week for Cancer Awareness,” held under the slogan “Your Health in your Awareness,” which was organized under the auspices of the Gulf Federation for Cancer Control (GFCC) in collaboration with the Gulf Center.

This week is an annual event dedicated to raising awareness about cancer, taking place from February 1 to 7 each year. It was designated by the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC) countries to highlight the importance of early cancer detection and raise public awareness about the disease.

The “10th Gulf Week for Cancer Awareness” aims to spread knowledge about various types of cancer and promote the culture of early detection, which is considered a key factor in improving the chances of recovery.

It also seeks to correct misconceptions about the disease and raise awareness about the importance of regular screenings for early cancer detection.

In this context, the Qatar Cancer Society organised various awareness activities and events, including workshops focusing on the importance of early detection and ways to enhance a healthy lifestyle to prevent cancer.

Additionally, the Society launched an awareness campaign on social media, which included sharing inspiring stories of cancer survivors.

The scientific advisor at Qatar Cancer Society, Dr. Hadi Mohammed Abu Rasheed emphasised the importance of such initiatives in promoting health awareness in the Gulf countries. He noted the rising number of cancer cases in the region and worldwide, highlighting the need to intensify media and awareness efforts to combat this health challenge.

He stressed the necessity of strengthening cooperation among GCC countries in this field to enhance collective awareness and encourage individuals to take preventive measures.
