Al Wakrah must win their next week's tie against Al Khor to stay in contention for next season of Qatar Stars League.
It's been a terrible Qatar Stars League (QSL) season for Al Wakrah. The 'Blue Waves' have suffered 13 defeats so far and they cannot afford any more.
The bottom-place side will enter the game against Al Khor on Saturday in a must win situation as a loss will make them officially out of the next season of the prestigious league.
The Kais Yaakoubi's team is not at it's best as they enter the crucial clash but they can take heart from their previous record against their relegation rivals.
Out of their only two victories this season, Al Wakrah's one win was against Al Khor (1-0) in December.
Midfielder Mouhcine Moutouali scored the only goal on the day, and Wakrah will again be relying on the Moroccan number ten to pull his side to victory again.
On the other hand, Al Khor, are currently in 11th place in the QSL standings, and could be set for a relegation play-off against Qatar SC of the Qatar Gas League, should they remain eleventh come the end of the season.
Khor officials have been clear over the last few weeks that their side can beat the drop and avoid the play-off game.
Head coach Jean Fernandez is a seasoned tactician who has had his fair share of relegation battles in his time. The French coach will be well aware that a victory over Wakrah will aid his side mentally by relegating a rival, giving them much needed momentum heading into the final two games of the campaign.
Brazilian import Madson has been ever present at Al Khor this season, and will be targeting to add to his tally of six goals this season.
Deadly from set-pieces and on the counter, Al Wakrah will look to silence the diminutive play-maker who tends to set up in the games that matter for the Knights.
