Doha: Qatar Equestrian Federation-owned Blanca, with Abdullah Ali Al Ajeil in the saddle, completed a flawless routine to top the field as the seventh leg of the hugely popular Hathab Equestrian Tour concluded at the Al Shaqab Arena yesterday.
The 12-year-old mare clocked a time of 45.48 seconds as Al Ajeil secured the top prize of the day worth QR7,500 in the Big Tour, Table A, Special two phases Art. 274.5.6, 130/140 cm event.
“The thrill of competing increases with every tour in the Hathab Series. It’s becoming more challenging,” Abdullah Al Ajil, the Big Tour winner, said yesterday.
“Regarding the riders’ level, it’s really impressive and we have already seen some rider compete internationally and represent Qatar in so many international competitions worldwide.
“About my win today, I was prepared but still I wasn’t expecting to win this Tour as I was competing against strong riders and powerful horses,” he added.
“For the next Tour, I will keep up the training with my coach. Now I will give myself two days of rest before proceeding my training for the next Tour. I would like to thank QOC Chairman Sheikh Joaan bin Hamad Al Thani for giving this competition to Qatar’s young riders and for his support. I am happy that I am getting to participate in this series,” the winner said.
“For future riders and beginners, we offer all our support and guidance to them in showjumping as they need to be patient. I would like to invite the fans to attend our events and support us,” Ajil said.
Ulano, ridden by Faleh Suwayed Al Ajami, completed the same task in 51.76 seconds to finish second and he got richer by QR6,000.
Popular rider Awad Al Qahtani guided his favourite stallion Cassander Van Het Bremhof to complete the routine in 42.46 seconds. However, the duo made four mistakes as they had to satisfy with the third position on the podium despite being the fastest in the competition. Al Qahtani won QR4,500 in prize money.
Beyonce, ridden by Rashid Towaim Al Marri, and Siec Cosmos Wijngaardhoeve Z, with Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi in the saddle, wrapped up the top five. Al Marri and Al Rumaihi were awarded prize cheques worth QR3,000 and QR2,100 respectively.
Earlier, in the Medium Tour, popular rider Mubarak Yousuf Al Rumaihi continued his stunning form astride Viking D and grabbed his second win at the seventh leg of the popular series.
In the Art. 238.2. event, Al Rumaihi’s his nine-year-old gelding made no mistakes as the duo clocked a time of 40.24 seconds to win the top prize of QR5,000.
Jessico 4, with Saeed Nasser Al Qadi in the saddle, spent 40.91 seconds to complete the same task and finished second behind Al Rumaihi. Al Qadi got richer by QR4,000. Mohammed Khalifa Albaker who guided
Davidoff Du Bois to complete the routine in50.06 seconds was placed third and bagged QR3,000 in prize money.
Jazly, ridden by Hamad Nasser Al Qadi, finished fourth ahead of Bolandro, guided by Al Rumaihi who had his name recorded twice among the top five.
The eighth leg of the Hathab Tour will take place on February 9 and 10.
